Disney received
Honorary Oscars in 1931/32 (for the creation of Mickey Mouse)
1938 (for Snow White and The Seven Dwarves) and 1941 (for Fantasia),
winning the Best Animated Short Subject Award as well.
Double-amputee Harold Russell won the Best Supporting Actor Award for The Best Years of Our Lives 1n 1946 as well as an Honorary Oscar
"for
bringing hope to his fellow veterans through his appearance in The
Best Years of Our Lives." He eventually sold the acting trophy
to pay
for medical expenses, but said that nothing could induce him to sell the
Honorary Oscar.
Jerome
Robbins won an Honorary Oscar "for his brilliant achievements
in the art of choreography on film" at the 1961 awards,
also taking home the Best Director Oscar for West Side Story . |
