Three separate actors won the Oscar, Emmy and Tony for playing Henry VIII.

Charles Laughton won the 1932/33 Oscar for playing the monarch in The Private Life of Henry VIII.

Keith Michell created a sensation for his portrayal of Henry in the television miniseries The Six Wives of Henry VIII, winning a 1972 Emmy for Outstanding Single Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for the episode titled Catherine Howard.

Rex Harrison won a Tony for playing the king in Max Anderson's verse drama Anne of the Thousand Days in 1949.

Performances of Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker have also won all three awards: The Oscar and Tony for Anne Bancroft (1962/1960) and the Emmy for Patty Duke in 1979. Teresa Wright was also Emmy-nominated for playing Annie Sullivan in the original 1957 Playhouse 90 telecast of The Miracle Worker. Another other role to nab all three awards was In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffanys author Truman Capote, which won a 1990 Tony and an 1992 Emmy for Robert Morse in the one-man show Tru, and a Best Actor Oscar for Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Capote in 2005. Actresses playing Queen Elizabeth II captured all three awards. Helen Mirren won the 2006 Oscar for playing the monarch in The Queen and the Tony for assuming the character nine years later for the play The Audience. Claire Foy received Emmys in 2018 and 2021 and Olivia Colman won a 2020 Emmy, both for playing Elizabeth in The Crown.
