Luxembourg Garden

After the workout of the Monmartre walking tour, Jonny decided to take it easy today and go to the Luxembourg Garden to read David McCullough's The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris, which his pal Donna had given him for the trip. Alas, the sky opened up and soaked his backpack through, and The Greater Journey would require a drying out before he could read about the Americans in Paris. At least he had the garden to himself.

This bust of poet Gabriel Vicaise looked to Jonny like an annoyed Orson Welles on Slim Fast.

Many souvenier shops sold French berets. Jonny may be the only American in Paris who not only brought his own beret, but wore it without intending any irony about it.
