This enjoyable
musical which tells the the story of The Wizard of Oz from
the Wicked Witch of the West's point of view has a weak book but
an outstanding production and a fine score, the highlight of which
is the spectacular Defying Gravity number which ends the
first act.
One of the biggest
differences between theatre in Britain and the United States is
tha vendors sell snacks in the theatre during intermission and eating
and drinking in your seats is permitted.
Before the show,
Jon had some of the nastiest fish and chips ever prepared at the
Shakespeare Pub. They advertised this dish as "world famous"
- no doubt in the same way that Charles Manson is "world famous."
